ED110 - Introduction to Education

This course provides an introduction to the teaching profession. Candidates will learn how the historical, philosophical and sociological foundations of education as well as current cultural, economic and political forces impact schools through class discussion and inquiry. Focusing on understanding themselves, understanding their students, and understanding the teaching profession, candidates study community and school settings and critically reflect on their values, experiences, and observations. Specifically, students will gain an understanding of educational policy and practice in preschool, elementary, middle and high school settings.

 


PSY110 - Introduction to Psychology

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the field of psychology. Topics covered include an overview of the field of psychology, methods of psychological research, biological foundations of human behavior, sensation and perception, basic principles of learning, memory, intelligence, developmental psychology, personality theories, abnormal behavior, psychotherapy, and social behavior.
